Objective
Councils understand and use current, best available resources to fund infrastructure to grow housing supply in order to meet demand.
Advocacy and Actions
Continue collaborating with Government agencies to provide a “council” perspective on the implementation of new funding and financing instruments as they are developed; particularly with the new Infrastructure Commission.
Hold a second Housing 2030 Symposium highlighting trends, technology and advancements in policy and implementation of housing activities in New Zealand.
Outcomes
Continued engagement with existing agencies such as MSD, HUD, Treasury and MBIE to inform local councils of trends and activities initiated by Government and stakeholders. Further, ensuring engagement with new organisations, such as the Housing and Urban Development Authority (HUDA), confirming local government interests are heard in planning and decision-making across all areas of investment planning.
