Integrated Transport Planning
Integrated planning brings together different threads of the transport picture, to complete a broader tapestry.
Such planning is underway in Palmerston North with a project to develop a regional freight ring road around the city to support the freight and distribution potential of the region.
The ring road will be integrated with and support the proposed KiwiRail Regional Freight Hub.
The project has an estimated cost of $360 million and will improve road safety, efficiency and connections, drawing on the region’s geographical and strategic advantage as a distribution and logistics hub.
It will attract further logistics, manufacturing and processing companies to the area, delivering new jobs.
Currently, work is being done on developing the detailed business case for the project.
