LGNZ welcomes the opportunity to submit on ‘Strengthening the resilience of Aotearoa New Zealand’s critical infrastructure system’. Current trends, like climate change and deteriorating social cohesion, are increasing the vulnerability of our critical infrastructure. We suggest a consistent and simplified regulatory regime, as well as clear avenues for funding improvements to our critical infrastructure is needed to ensure our communities remain connected during shocks and extreme weather events.
